A date is a sweet fruit that grows from the date palm tree. Dates have been grown and eaten as a staple food in the Middle East for thousands of years. Dates are revered for their delicious taste and health benefits and play an important role in the UAE, symbolising both culture and history. The Bedouin tribes of the desert are said to have survived solely on a staple diet of camel’s milk, meat and the nutritious fruit.
